So you think you have a 'special' relationship with a Filipina you met online, who is asking for money?

You need to check out the 'caught on cam' categories at the Dragonladies.org, BBS, and Gallery!
'Caught on Cam' at the Dragonladies.org Gallery!
'Caught on Cam' at the Dragonladies.org BBS!
Don't send money to somebody you only know from the internet!
Too many of these girls are online, only to make money. They may claim to be interested in you romantically, often after a few seconds or minutes of chat, but they are really only after your money.
You should always expect to see a face on cam, but seeing 'that face' is not grounds to send money. Many of these scammer/beggars will use fake pictures, and not show a face on cam. One tactic is to tell the man 'Send me money to buy a cam so you can see me!' (Or send me money for a computer/internet access/or a 'show'.) I've found out that most of these people already have a cam. They will not turn it on for various reasons, including they are not the person in the pictures, or they are only trying to get money from you!
'Good' girls do not ask for money. The internet and a PC are not cheap, and are somewhat of a luxury in the Philippines. The internet cafe is not cheap, either. Real ladies who use internet cafes will do so sparingly, and not be parked in front of a PC hour after hour.
Often these girls will appear impatient, or bored during the chat session. They'll often keep mentioning how poor they are, and dropping hints they need money. Don't send it!
The money they are spending to be online could feed them for that day. They are not starving, going to be evicted, in need of medical expenses, or sleeping next to the body of 'grandma', since they can't afford a coffin.
They are online to make MONEY!

Want to avoid online romance scams?

MANY of the current scams are already reported, online.
Victims often tell me 'I didn't know this happened....'.
The information you need to understand you are being scammed is probably online, now, if you know to look!
GOOGLE the email address of that new person you meet, online. The email address may have been reported in use in scams, already.
Learn to use Google Image search. Many of the pictures used by scammers have been used over and over, for years, with different names, and different locations, and stories.
Always expect to see a face on webcam, and not just once, for a few seconds.
Don't send money! PERIOD. There is no reason to send money to somebody you only know from the internet, or phone calls. Real people in danger do not sit in front of a computer, asking strangers for help.
Keep your expectations for online relationships based in reality. If you manage to avoid the scammers, you will then have to wade through other ladies (Or men) who are only after financial support, or immigration to your country. Most guys seem to think the promise of sex with a young lady is worth the risk of future financial and legal problems, and heartbreak. If you are looking for a a serious relationship, there is no 'magic' online. Most of the same rules for relationships apply, and you have the additional problems of cultural differences.
These scams are not very sophisticated. YOU have made a decision to accept the fantasy they offer.

Search anybody by name, e-mail address, phone number, online username or even friends in your address book and instantly return lots of info.

How to detect 'dingbats'? (Safety in modern dating)

Sometimes long term marriages fail. One partner is unwillingly pushed back into the world of 'singles'.
This recently happened to a relative of mine. The marriage had been long, not perfect, he was willing to work at it, but she wasn't.
Getting your toes wet in the dating pool, again, takes some courage.
Maybe a lot of things have changed, culturally, since you were last a swinging single?
(Or maybe you are like me, and never really were?)
There are some nice and interesting people you can meet out there, and some real nutcases.
I've learned a lot about digging for info on the internet, with my avocation of chasing scammers. Some of these things apply to real life.
My relative has just started trying online dating, via one of the very commercial, heavily advertised dating sites, that like to throw the word 'God' around.
He asked me to see what I could find out about one lady he was interested in. She was attractive, local, and of an appropriate age.
Most real people are too enthralled with the internet! They leave too much information about themselves, scattered all about the 'net. In this case, it turned out to be good that this person likes the 'net. It took a few seconds to do a search on Spokeo, and you could see this lady was not exactly wrapped too tight.
As my relative said, 'She's a dingbat!'
(A short phone call with the lady confirmed this.)
Sometimes, Spokeo is good for things like this, it will help you uncover blog posts, facebook accounts, social network profiles, pictures, and more.

Search anybody by name, e-mail address, phone number, online username or even friends in your address book and instantly return lots of info.

If you are using online dating, or even just dating in general, Spokeo is a handy tool. You're not snooping, you are not getting access to things the person did not post on the 'net, publicly, but it may be something they forgot about, or something they conflicts with what they are telling you now, or how they are presenting themselves, now.
Another few tips: Get one of those lowcost, pre-paid cellphones, and use that number to give to new people you meet on dating sites. You can go on Amazon.com and pick up a 'Blu' phone, and pre-paid sim card, for under $30. Do you really need some dingbat you chatted with once, calling your 'real' phone?
Use a new, 'throwaway' email account for contact with new people. (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)
If the person is local, be very careful about giving out where you work, or live, until you have met them a few times in a neutral, safe place.
People will hand you the tools to do some checking. The phone number, email address are all easily searched. You can even learn to use google image search to see where else 'those' pictures show up on the 'net. (Do they have other dating site profiles)
Be smart! Be safe! There are some good people on the 'net, you may be able to find one.

Salvatore168 on Offsingle.com Stolen picture and partial identity of US Army Medal of Honor recipient

Sadly, this is a very common scam. West African scammer PIGS will steal the pictures military members they can find online, and use them in scams, pretending to be that person, or some person loosely based on the real person.
Here we have 'Salvatore168' on the very crappy site, offsingle.com.
They are using a stolen picture of Salvatore Giunta, a very real soldier, (who happens to be married, and much younger than claimed in this profile.

Ladies! Please stop falling for these scams! You must always expect to see a face on webcam. If you learn how to use Google Image search, you can easily detect photos, like this one, are stolen! NEVER SEND MONEY!
The soldier in this picture is not involved in any scam, he is NOT in contact with you.
He is a victim of identity theft. I'm sure he'd love to spend some 'personal time' with the West African PIG who is using his face to scam ladies.
( i would be happy to sell tickets to watch the beatdown this pig deserves. )
The scams these pigs usually try to pull when they use stolen pictures of military people, may involve 'visa and travel', 'pay for leave', or 'I found millions of dollars in a war zone and I need help to sneak it out.'
Don't be stupid.
So you really think you are in contact with the person in this picture?
Look at the pages of reports of scams using his pictures, posted at Romancescam.com

Fraud on paid Asian Dating sites Recent raid on 'office' in Cebu

'Paid' dating sites usually don't offer any additional safety, or the potential to meet better, or real, people. Several of the bigger 'pay per message' dating sites are rampant with fraud, chnlove.com, and another site owned by the same people, are two examples.
idateasia.com is mentioned in a series of news articles from the Philippines, involving the raid on a 'call center', operated by a Chinese national, in the Philippines.
The 'call center' consisted of young filipino men, and ladies, who operated fake profiles on idateasia.com, encouraging men to send messages to the lady, and most likely purchase fake gifts. (The 'agency' gets a commission on all services purchased by the customer)
Additionally, there are reports on online nudity, and stolen pornographic images being used to entice the customer, as well as arranging prostitutes for the customer if he comes to the Philippines.

These 'pay per message' sites are generally bad news. There is too much fraud going on. Rarely is it as extensive as this recent situation in the Philippines, but the income that can be made by tricking men into paying for messages, or 'translated' messages, is too tempting for some people in lesser developed areas, whether they are in Asia, or the Former Soviet Union countries.

I strongly suggest you not use any dating site where you pay per message, or have to pay for 'in house' translation of messages. While the fees may be a few dollars, US, that amount is sufficient enough in some local economies to make fraud, profitable. These people assume you have more money, than brains, and deserve to lose some money. Prove them wrong. Keep away from these sites!

'Sign pictures' Fun, but rarely prove much

Sign pictures are pictures you ask somebody to pose for, usually holding a piece of paper, or 'sign' with some specified text on it, in an attempt to prove that person is real, and who you are in contact with.
You have to be careful! Scammers are fairly adept at producing fake sign pictures.
'Sign' pictures aren't really the best way to prove you are in contact with that person. Please ask for help from an established anti-scam site in evaluating any sign picture you may be sent. Most are fake, and while they are easy to detect as fakes, if you are emotionally connected to the person, it's easy to be fooled.
There are some very simple ways to detect fraud in sign pictures. You just have to be willing to look, and accept the truth. There's no rational excuse for any person who you meet on the 'net to not be able to show a face on webcam. Always expect to see that face, live, on webcam, and, of course, never send money!
Here we have a young filipina, who professed love quickly for an elderly baiting character of mine.
She claims she did not have a webcam, but was chatting on yahoo via a smartphone, which actually appears to be correct. She was coaxed into posing for a sign picture when she avoided showing a face on cam, after asking the old man for money during the first chat.
This is the same girl as in the pictures being used to scam men. She may not be the person doing the actual scam, but may be a particpant, if only providing her face.
This picture arrive around 3 am, Philippines local time, and the exif data for the picture shows the picture was taken by a smart phone, 5 minutes earlier, the same day. I think they woke the girl up to pose for the picture.
This picture is 'fresh', and shows no evidence of editing. Most sign pictures are fake. Plee uase, don't assume a 'sign picture' is 100% proof you are in contact with that person.
In other internet romance scams, like from Russia, local girls are sometimes paid to pose for sets of pictures to be used in scams. The girl is 'real', and she is somewhat involved in the scam, but she is often not the actual scammer.
This may be the situation with the filipina in these pictures. Somebody, a friend or family member is probaby conducting the scam, using her face and pictures.
(Recent information provided to Dragonladies.org suggests this girl is part of an extended family 'scam' operation, who use female family members, some underaged, to conduct scams like this. The person contacting the men may well be younger than the girl in these pictures, who may be well under 16. The family members involved switch off on the contact duties, and the girl in the pictures was very obviously roused from sleep in the early morning hours to provide new pictures to aid in this scam.) )
This girl had a profile on dateinasia.com, a large, free, dating site known for scammers, perverts, and sex tourists. She claimed to be 18, and looked young. She messaged a baiting profile I had of a man who is 50 years older than she claimed to be. Guys, this is a trap. When a girl this young messages a man that much older, it's almost always for money, or immigration. You will get screwed, but not in the way you hoped.
More info on this scam at Dragonladies.org OK, you can see several 'sign' pictures, elsewhere on this page. I like them, they are mostly a novelty, and rarely proof of much. In rare cases all they do is prove a live girl is at least posing for pictures, not much else.
Never send money to somebody you only know from the internet, or phone calls.

Free, safe dating sites online

There are only two free dating sites I can recommend that are fairly safe, datingnmore.com, and asianlonelyhearts.com.
Most dating sites, free or otherwise, do not bother to do much checking of new profiles, or monitoring activity on the site. By 'monitoring' activity, I do not mean reading your messages, or spying, but there are usually ways to watch site activity without invading your privacy, and scammers do tend to operate in predictable ways, and usually exhibit some known traits.
Most of the knowledge a site operator needs to have to spot these scammers is pretty easily acquired. You just have to be interested in protecting your members, and operating a 'clean' site. Most dating sites don't do this.
Datingnmore.com is a large, free, safe dating site, owned and operated by a friend of mine, who is probably the leading expert in internet romance scams, in the world. The site is friendly, and has an extensive array of members from throughout the world.
AsianLonelyhearts.com is a new, free, small 'Asian' dating site I am involved with. We hope to offer the best free 'Asian' dating site available.
We need new members, and really need new female members.
It will take a while for Asianlonelyhearts to become a busy, active site, but we prefer to build the site honestly, and with real people. Why waste your time on fakes, scammers, and players?
Please join, and help us build this site.

So? You look at these two sites and think they are boring, and not as exciting as most dating sites? Do you realize you are used to typical CRAP found on dating sites? Fake profiles of half naked people. Stolen pictures of celebrities. Hundreds or thousands of profiles of people you try to contact, but never reply? ( they're fake profiles!)
Do you think PAYING for a site offers you some safety and value? It usually doesn't! The scammers operate on virtually every site, paid, or free.
The one exception in paid 'Asian' dating I can offer is Christian Filipina Dating. Christian-Filipina is one of the few sites that actively checks new profiles, and has some unique methods to screen members. Give it a try if you prefer a 'paid' site, or try all of the sites I suggest!
Regardless of which online site you use, please remember: Never send money to somebody you only know from the internet, or phone calls!
Always expect to see a face on webcam. Do not accept 'no cam' and pictures as proof you are in contact with the person they claim they are.
Keep the age gap reasonable. Yes, you may know of an 80 year old man with a 20 year old Asian bride, but that combination usually doesn't last long or work out, and somebody usually ends up broke and unhappy. (and it's not the girl who was broke to start with)
Be careful, and good luck.
You can find a 'fantasy' romance online very easily. Sometimes the fantasy is fairly short.

This is not your grandma's White Pages! Find anybody's email address, photos and videos instantly!
