When she contacts you, will be told she is in GHANA to take care of her mother, and will be sent pictures of this girl, probably stolen from an online porn site.

The person in these pictures is real and goes by the name Mavis Adams.She is a scammer and not a very good one.Anyway she she was trying to have me send her moneys for her passport so she could come be with me.This is the same day that we started chatting.Anyway I got suspicious of her when she started saying that they only take wire transfers and started being pushy about it.I then started digging and found her on several sites with different names and ages.So now I will give these names to everyone so maybe it will help in the future.

You were not scammed by the person in the pictures. The pictures are stolen. If you saw a video of the lady in the pictures, it was a recording.

ReplyDeleteWest African scammers love to steal her pictures to use in scams. Check the IP in the emails the scammer sent to you and you'll see they came from West Africa.
Stolen pictures are very commonly used in scams.
This does not mean the real lady in the pictures is involved in the scam.

DeleteThere's not really much you can do. You can file a complaint with Western Union or moneygram, whichever way you sent the money. Sometimes they will block the recipient from getting money again.

ReplyDeleteThe 'Richard Costigan' in Texas is probably a 'check mule'. somebody who collects the money for the scammer as a favor, or thinking they have a 'work at home' job.
ReplyDeleteIt's more likely you can get the 'check mule' prosecuted or looked at, than the actual scammer.
Some of the 'check mules' are victims, also, but some are just stupid and greedy people, trying to make easy money. They 'process' the payments to the scammer, and are allowed to keep ten percent of the take. The check mules are much more likely to get caught, prosecuted, and see some prison time. Be warned.
